Let's begin at the beginning.

In September a friend of mine told me that a local Christian School was looking for a Kindergarten teacher, at the time I was only getting called to sub a few days a month so I jumped at the opportunity. Not long after turning in my resume I got called for an interview and started out subbing. Toward the end of October I found out that I was going to be the new Kindergarten teacher. HAPPY DANCE!! Kindergarten is my favorite!! In November I started shadowing the current teacher (she was staying through November then leaving because she was having a baby) and I gradually started taking over teaching. I officially took over in December and it has been AMAZING!! I have a fantastic class made up of 11 of the sweetest and smartest kids you will ever meet.

 My Christmas story bulletin board, we added people to the story each day as we read the story. The brown part is the road to Bethlehem not, as one of my students called it, a tree branch. I'm not that great at art.

Our nap time watcher Geraldo Giraffe (pronounced Hurahldo Hurafay) picks the student who has been the  most improved behavior wise to nap with.

Being a group of 5 and 6 year old children we have A TON of tattle tales so I brought in my buddy Terrence to act as my tattle tale mediator. 

Our Popcorn Word Wall

Each day I write a message to the class then we search for the popcorn words in the message and the students come up and "butter" the popcorn words and lead the cheer (Give me an A! a! Give me a M! m! What does that spell? AM!). This has been really helpful to my kids, they are recognizing popcorn words all over the place now.

I made this quiet game as extra practice on tens and ones the students can take it to their desks when they have finished all their seat work.

As one of the behavior coin rewards the kids can "purchase" lunch in the classroom and I was shocked how many of them actually enjoy it.
